This policy applies to every school using the app. Each school also has a version showing its own name, address and contact details.
Edumitra Companion is a parent app that lets a parent or guardian follow a child’s school record. It is provided to your child’s school (“the School”) by Benevolent Software Technologies Private Limited (“Edumitra”, “we”), which supplies the school-management software the School uses.
The School decides what information about its students is kept and why; it is the party responsible for that information. Edumitra processes it on the School’s behalf to run the app, and does not use it for any purpose of its own.
This policy explains what is collected, how it is used and what your choices are. It is written to follow applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
About your child, already held by the School and shown to you in the app:
About you, as the parent or guardian:
About your use of the app, collected automatically:
We do not collect your location, contacts, microphone, camera feed or advertising identifiers. The app asks for access to your photos or camera only when you choose to upload a payment receipt.
It is not used for advertising, profiling or sale to anyone.
Learning material is posted for a whole class, so it is visible to the parents of every child in that class, and to no one outside it. The School should not post anything about an individual child there.
No one else sees your child’s information. Another family using the same app cannot see yours.
The app sets one essential cookie that keeps you signed in on that device for up to 180 days or until you log out. It cannot be read by scripts on the page. The app also remembers the name of your school on the login screen. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
The app is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Accounts lock for 15 minutes after five wrong passwords. Each parent account can see only the children linked to it. No system is perfectly secure; please keep your password private and log out on shared devices.
The app is for parents and guardians, not for children to use. The information about a child is supplied by the School, not collected from the child, and you see it as the child’s parent or guardian.
You may ask the School to show you the information held about you and your child, to correct it, to stop your parent login, or to delete what you have submitted through the app. Official school records, such as marks, attendance and fee ledgers, are changed by the School and may have to be kept where the law requires.
To close your parent login or request deletion of what you submitted, contact the School office (details below) and ask it to disable your login. The School can do this from its management system, usually within a few working days.
You can also write directly to Benevolent Software Technologies Private Limited at support@bsoftware.co.in from your registered mobile number or e-mail, with the child’s name and admission number and the school’s name, and ask for your account data to be deleted. We will verify the request with the School and act on it within 30 days. Deleting your login removes the data you submitted through the app (leave requests, complaints, payment claims and uploaded screenshots); the School’s own academic and fee records remain with the School, as described above.
Questions or complaints about how information is handled should go first to the School office. If you are not satisfied, write to us at support@bsoftware.co.in.
Contact details for each school are shown on that school’s own version of this document and on the Contact page inside the app.
